A solo piece for bass clarinet. The player has to alternate playing his instrument with using his voice (speaking, whispering, singing).
words:
Helsinki, April 4-1896
I – BEGINNING
In the beginning nothing could be heard. No sound whatsoever. But then, music makers rushed into the house and started to blow their horns.
II – IN BETWEEN
One of them sang a song somewhat out of tune. Therefore the atmosphere was heavy and light at the same time. Slowly an old man and woman stood up and danced a melancholy, little waltz.
III – ENDING
Finally they stopped playing, put their instruments away and left the house. The room was filled with nostalgic echoes. Deafening silence reigned again.
